Damp, cool conditions in forecast

Scattered rain will keep Lawrence damp through the early afternoon. And you can expect cool weather for the rest of the day.

“I’d take a coat with you and an umbrella,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “Don’t be surprised if you see plenty of puddles out there.”

Cool weather was expected for most of the day, with temperatures in the low 50s this morning, climbing to only 58 by late this afternoon, Schack said.

“It’s not much of a warm-up as we see showers for the first part of the day and clouds for the afternoon,” she said.

Overnight, the National Weather Service predicts a 20 percent chance of rain before 11 p.m., with the low dropping to 47 by early Wednesday morning.

Schack said a cold front will arrive in the Lawrence area early Wednesday afternoon, bringing more cool weather, Schack said.

Wednesday’s high will be 62 before the cold front moves in. Then there will be breezy conditions and winds gusting up to 30 mph, she said.
