Evelyn Irby Sweets

Mrs. Sweets died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in Burleson.

She was born Feb. 14, 1912, in Myrtle, Miss., the daughter of Frank Miller and Cordelia Robbins Irby. She graduated from Blue Mountain College and was a former resident of Chattanooga.

Mrs. Sweets was a homemaker. She taught elementary school for several years in Leland, Miss., and Chattanooga. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and Midfield Acres Community Club.

She married John R. Sweets Jr., in 1942. He died in 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Dee Couch, Burleson; a son, John F. Sweets, Lawrence, Kan.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Chattanooga Funeral Home.
