Eagles roll to 50-34 win

? Jesse Schultz scored four touchdowns, and Veritas Christian accumulated 584 yards of offense in rolling to a 50-34 eight-man football victory Saturday over Springfield (Mo.) Christian.

Schultz scored on runs of 18, 9 and 92 yards and on a 62-yard pass play from Casey Woods. Paul Kempf added three touchdowns — on passes of 42 and 73 yards from Woods and a run of 29 yards.

“We’re playing very sound football,” said Veritas coach Doug Bennett, whose squad improved to 6-1 while winning for the third straight time. “Our fundamentals are improving. We’re executing better with our blocking, and our tackling is improving.”

Schultz had 14 carries for 208 yards and two receptions for 81 yards, and Kempf had eight carries for 75 yards and four receptions for 132 yards. Ben Reynolds added 14 carries for 52 yards, and Mark Randtke had three receptions for 32 yards. Woods completed 11 of 19 passes for 228 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Kemp, Schultz, Randtke and Andrew Bartlow each was in on at least 10 tackles.

Veritas will travel Friday to Wichita Word of Life.
