The Kansas Volunteer Commission lauded Lawrence employees of Capitol Federal Savings with the You Make A Difference Award. Jo Bryant, of the United Way of Douglas County, is in front. They attended the Kansas Volunteer Commission banquet Sept. 23 in Wichita. The Roger Hill Volunteer Center, a United Way agency, nominated Capitol Federal Savings and received a ,000 award in honor of the bank's volunteer efforts.

From left, George Waters, Dave Owens and Joel Berry, all of Lawrence, won the Clinton Pointe Homeowners golf tournament at Eagle Bend. The Sept. 18 tournament attracted 16 participants. The tournament raised money to replace trees in the southeast Lawrence neighborhood that had been damaged during the tornado in May 2003.
