Piano Man ties the knot

Long Island, N.Y.– Singer-songwriter Billy Joel married his fiancee, 23-year-old Kate Lee, in a ceremony Saturday at his Long Island mansion, his record label said.

Joel, 55, wed Lee in a sunset wedding at his waterfront home, Newsday reported in its online editions. Columbia Records, Joel’s label, announced the marriage Saturday night.

Joel, who was previously married twice, including to supermodel Christie Brinkley, has had more than two dozen Top 10 hits, including his signature song “Piano Man,” which was released in 1973 and became a hit the next year.

Lee, a native of Huntington, W.Va., recently graduated from Ohio’s Miami University and works as a restaurant correspondent for the PBS show “George Hirsch: Living It Up!”

Charlie Watts cancer-free

London — Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts has won a battle with throat cancer, lead singer Mick Jagger said.

Watts, 63, was diagnosed with cancer four months ago and recently finished a successful six-week chemotherapy treatment at a London hospital.

“Charlie has had all his treatments, and he’s now been cleared and is free of any illness,” Jagger told the Daily Mirror for Saturday’s editions.

The drummer has recently split his time between the Stones and his jazz band, Tentet. Jagger said he hoped to record new material and schedule a tour in the near future for the Stones.

TV Land has ordered six episodes of “Chasing Farrah,” a show that follows the onetime “Charlie’s Angels” star through the most mundane aspects of her everyday life. It will premiere Jan. 19.

TV Land promises highlights including Fawcett’s trip to the salon and her visit to the U.S. Open. She also loses her wallet.
