Arthur Henry Payne

? Graveside services and inurnment for Arthur Henry Payne, 71, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Stoney Point Cemetery north of Baldwin. He was cremated.

Mr. Payne died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, in Kansas City, Kan.

He was born May 6, 1933, in Lawrence, the son of Murton and Edith Garner Payne. He graduated from high school in Lawrence. He was currently attending classes at Johnson County Community College and working on a degree in automotive engineering.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.

Mr. Payne worked at Dr Pepper in Lawrence. He later became a union carpenter for more than 20 years for Local 2279. He worked for Kansas University and later for the city of Lawrence Water Department. He was currently a security officer for the Yale Enforcement Services of Belleville, Ill., and was contracted by the Old Dominion Freight Line in Kansas City, Kan.

Mr. Payne was a member of the Eudora Assembly of God church.

He married Geraldine Baker on Sept. 11, 1960. They later divorced.

Survivors include a son, Sheldon Payne, Eudora; a daughter, Corina Payne, Eudora; a sister, Donna Thomas, Baldwin; and four grandchildren.

Twin daughters, Charlotte and Cynthia Payne, died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin.
