Iowa tops No. 21 Oklahoma to take tournament title

— Jamie Cavey scored seven of her 12 points in the last eight minutes, and Crystal Smith added 11 points and seven rebounds, leading Iowa to a 54-47 victory over No. 21 Oklahoma in the Lucaya Division championship game of the Junkanoo Jam tournament Saturday.

Smith also played a strong defensive game for the Hawkeyes (4-0), limiting Oklahoma standout Dionnah Jackson to just 12 points.

"Everybody helped, everybody contributed," said Smith, who was named the MVP of the Lucaya Division. "This year we improved so much, when they made a run on us, we made a run right back at them."

Johanna Solverson added 10 points, and Krista VandeVenter had nine points and 11 rebounds for Iowa.

No. 2 LSU 75, Colorado 44

Boulder, Colo. -- Seimone Augustus had 16 points and six assists, and No. 2 LSU used a smothering defense to overwhelm Colorado in the championship game of the Coors Classic.

Augustus finished 7-of-14 and scored in double figures for the 33rd straight game for LSU (7-0). The Tigers held Colorado to 24 percent shooting.

No. 10 Duke 63, No. 16 Kansas State 51

Freeport, Bahamas -- Monique Currie had 25 points and eight rebounds to lead No. 10 Duke over No. 16 Kansas State in the Freeport Division championship game at the Junkanoo Jam. Alison Bales added 11 points and 13 rebounds for Duke (5-1), which shot 27-for-39 from the free-throw line.

Kendra Wecker led Kansas State (3-1) with 15 points. The Wildcats shot 8-for-12 from the line.

Duke charged to a 12-0 lead, led 28-17 at the break, and scored the first 14 points of the second half. Kansas State closed within eight points in the second half, but was unable to complete the comeback.

Texas A&M 89, Cleveland State 58

San Marcos, Texas -- Ashley Bolden scored 15 points, leading Texas A&M over Cleveland State at the Bobcat Classic. Patrice Reado, who was 6-of-9 from the field, scored 14 points. Morenike Atunrase had 13 points, and A'Quonesia Franklin scored 11 for the Aggies (3-1).

Cleveland State (0-5) was led by Nicole Thomas' 13 points and 10 rebounds. Brittany North and Maria Rickards each had 10 points.
