Alvin James Norris

Mr. Norris died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at his home in Oskaloosa.

He was born Aug. 19, 1924, in Tracy, Mo., the son of Robert Wesley and Coy Mae Snyder Norris. He had lived in Oskaloosa since moving from Leavenworth in 1999.

Mr. Norris co-owned and operated Richey’s Jewelry Store in Leavenworth from 1950 until his retirement in 1993.

He was a member of the New Hope Assembly of God Church in Leavenworth and had served as a chaplain at the Leavenworth County Jail for many years.

Mr. Norris married Marvel M. Shelton on Nov. 25, 1961, in Leavenworth. She died Nov. 19, 2001.

Survivors include three sisters, Roberta Marie Scroggs, Hiawatha, and Naomi Mae Flowers and Carol Elizabeth Norris, both of Oskaloosa; and three nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
