Alvin F. Currant

? Services for Alvin F. Currant, 66, Ottawa, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.

Mr. Currant died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at his home.

He was born Jan. 30, 1938, in Overbrook, the son of Ivan F. and Elva M. Grammer Currant. He moved from Overbrook to Ottawa in 1959.

Mr. Currant served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He was a press operator for Lawrence Paper Company for 38 years and retired in 2002. He was a member of the Grain Mills Union in Lawrence.

He married Carolyn Kay Wadkins on Aug. 5, 1961, in Ottawa. She died March 27, 1997. He married Rose Wyatt on March 9, 2001, in Ottawa. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Kimberly Hale and Cathy Currant, both of Ottawa, and Tamera Griffin, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; two sons, Ronald F. and Doyle W., both of Ottawa; three stepsons, Tom Blankenbeker, Boston, Ron West, Ottawa, and Randy West, Sugar City, Colo.; a twin brother, Elvin F., Ottawa, two brothers, Merle, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Harold, Wentzville, Mo.; a sister, Delma Hepner, Lawrence; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Two grandchildren died earlier.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The family suggests memorials to Franklin County Cancer Foundation, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S. Hickory 66067.
