Samuel F. Schmid

Services for Samuel F. Schmid, 61, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will at 12:30 p.m. Friday in Prairie View Cemetery, near Waverly.

Mr. Schmid died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 24, 1943, in rural Waverly, the son of John Henry and Retta Cardwell Schmid. He moved to Lawrence from Topeka in 1965.

Mr. Schmid was an auto body technician and worked in Lawrence and Kansas City for 39 years. He was active in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. He was a licensed pilot and active member of Lawrence Flying Club. He was a member of Travelers Protective Assn.

He married Joyce Halberg on Sept. 15, 1963, in Stotler. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Lanette Kielbasa, Fulton, Mo.; a son, Christopher, Lawrence; a brother John, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; a sister, Frankie Jane Bennett, New Bloomfield, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to M.A.D.D. or Kansas Lung Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
