Melva Schutte

? Graveside services for Melva Schutte, 89, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Marceline. Private family services will be at a later date.

Mrs. Schutte died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at Park Place Long Term Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

She was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Marceline, the daughter of Wilbur Jacob and Jennie S. Hemmings Randolph. She graduated from Marceline High School at age 15. She then attended Central Methodist College in Fayette for three years, where she pursued a music degree with a double major in piano and organ performance. She lived on military bases in Kentucky and Louisiana. She returned to Marceline before moving to Kansas and Iowa. She made her home in Mount Pleasant before moving to Park Place in 1997.

Mrs. Schutte established a piano studio at her home and was an organist in Missouri and Iowa. She was a member of P.E.O., Daughters of the American Revolution and numerous other social organizations.

She married Richard H. Schutte on Feb. 7, 1942, in Marceline. He died May 15, 2002.

Survivors include two daughters, Sondra Mosley, Lawrence, Kan., and Heidi Riepe, Mount Pleasant; a son, Richard Schulte, Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may sign a register book and leave memorials at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant.
