Downtown ceremony set to begin holidays
Santa's coming to town.
Downtown Lawrence Inc.'s annual holiday ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday with singing by choral groups and storytelling. Santa Claus is scheduled to arrive at 6 p.m. on the rooftop of Weaver's Department Store, Ninth and Massachusetts streets. Once rescued from the roof by the Lawrence Fire Department, Santa will visit with children.

Michigander Davy Rothbart has translated his voyeuristic tendencies into an annual publication that has received national acclaim.
Three years ago, Rothbart and friend Jason Bitner created Found Magazine, which features items people find lying around.
You'll have a chance to submit your own quirky found objects to the duo when they speak at 6:30 tonight at the Hawk's Nest in the Kansas Union. Admission is free.

Jayhawks to take on '04 Elite Eight team
Kansas University's men's basketball team tackles its second opponent of the season on Tuesday when Saint Joseph's comes to town for a 9 p.m. tipoff. The Hawks stormed to a perfect 27-0 regular season record, advancing all the way to the Elite Eight, where they fell to Oklahoma State. The game will air on Sunflower Broadband Channel 34.
Thanksgiving
LINK offers dinner
A community Thanksgiving dinner will be offered Thursday, courtesy of the Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen.
LINK will serve its annual holiday meal from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church, 1000 Ky.
The organization is seeking volunteers to help with the food preparation and serving. Anyone wanting to volunteer can call Terry Connolly at 865-3985. People who want to make a financial contribution can send them to LINK treasurer Marie Wilson, P.O. Box 442472, Lawrence, 66044.
