Athens, Ga. Just two games into her college career, Tasha Humphrey already looks like one of the best players in the country.
The freshman scored all but three of her 27 points in a dazzling second-half display for No. 5 Georgia, which rallied from a 15-point deficit to stun second-ranked Texas, 78-64, Sunday night.
Humphrey scored 25 points in her college debut, leading the Bulldogs (2-0) to a rout of Furman. She was even more impressive against a perennial powerhouse, dominating the final 20 minutes with a variety of jaw-dropping moves that defied her youth.
The 6-foot-2 Humphrey, who has been compared by her coach to Charles Barkley, did a little of everything. Along with hitting 10-of-15 shots from the field, she grabbed eight rebounds, dished out two assists and had a steal.
No. 19 Kansas State 85, Pepperdine 53
Manhattan -- Kendra Wecker had 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead Kansas State. Brie Madden scored a career-high 18 points, and Megan Mahoney added 15 for the Wildcats, who had five players score in double figures. Wecker, a preseason All-American, had her 37th career double-double.
No. 21 Oklahoma 76, Texas State 57
Norman, Okla. -- Erin Higgins scored 12 points, and Chelsi Welch and Casey Walker added 10 each for Oklahoma. Higgins was 4-for-7 from three-point range, but the Sooners (2-0) got most of their scoring inside against the smaller Wildcats.
