Oskaloosa Funeral services for Verrell M. Garren, 79, Oskaloosa, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
Mrs. Garren died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
She was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Troy, the daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Iva Mae Hautzenrader Weinberg. She lived in Oskaloosa most of her life, and graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1943.
Mrs. Garren co-owned and operated Garren's Grocery in Oskaloosa from 1968 to 1977. She spent many years as a homemaker and was an accomplished artist. She taught painting classes in Oskaloosa, Lawrence and Topeka. She was a member of Oskaloosa United Methodist Church.
She married Thomas LaVerne Garren on July 30, 1943, in Oskaloosa. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Monte L. Garren and Rick D. Garren, Oskaloosa, and Marty L. Garren, Topeka; two daughters, Cheryl L. Forbes, Oskaloosa, and Tanya R. Newell, Oskaloosa; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after noon Monday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa, where the family will greet them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
