Services for John Wesley Paschall Jr., 80, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Paschall died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at his home.

He was born Aug. 14, 1924, in Gould, Ark., the son of John W. and Lenore “Nellie” Martin Paschall. He moved from Monticello, Ark., to Lawrence in 1958.

He received a Bachelor of Science in economics from Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, Ark., and a Master of Arts in business administration from the University of Arkansas in 1954.

Mr. Paschall served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War II and was discharged as a quartermaster 2nd class.

He worked in textbook sales for Southwestern Publishing Co. from 1958 to 1967 and was a stockbroker for Paine Webber from 1967 until he retired in 1989. He was a member of First Christian Church in Lawrence.

He married Mae Minchew on Sept. 12, 1947, in Gould, Ark. She died Sept. 21, 1991.

Survivors include a daughter, Anita Louise Wise, Lawrence; four sons, John Wesley III, Fort Collins, Colo., Thomas Lamarr, Olathe, Scott Clay, Nashville, Tenn., and Lee Wade, St. Louis; his best friend, Colleen Ingram, Lawrence; a brother, Archie Lamarr Paschall, Adelphi, Md.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of the mortuary.
