New coach optimistic at Seabury

Seabury Academy’s new girls basketball staff will make its debut at 6 tonight when the Seahawks play host to their Late Night event.

“It’s going great,” first-year coach Nick Taylor said Thursday. “We’ve had some tough practices this week. We’re looking forward to tomorrow night. That should be fun for me and the kids.”

Taylor, who had served as an assistant baseball coach at Seabury, is a rookie basketball coach, but assistant John Edison is a former Kansas Wesleyan and Washburn University aide.

Seabury won just one game last season, but Taylor expects better results this winter.

“I’m thrilled with this week’s practices,” he said.
