Riley Qualifies: Justin Riley of Lawrence, a junior at Grinnell (Iowa) College, finished 15th in a district qualifying meet last weekend and qualified for the NCAA Division Three cross country championships Saturday in Eau Claire, Wis.

Bocquin Hole-in-One: George Bocquin used a seven wood to ace the par three, 150-yard No. 15 hole Tuesday at Alvamar Country Club. Witnesses were Doug Shade, Bobby Williams, Mark Connolly and Tony Portela.

Wrestling Open House: Prairie Fire Wrestling Club will hold an open house at 6 p.m. today in the wrestling room of Lawrence High’s west gym. A mini-practice will follow at 7 p.m. The club is open to boys and girls ages 4-16. For information, call Debra Housworth at 832-1288.

Reaney Sweeps: Emma Reaney of the Lawrence Aquahawks won all 10 events she entered in the girls 11-12 age division at the Dolphin Invitational Nov. 5-6. Teammates Molly Albrecht won seven golds. Ben Sloan of the Aquahawks won three events while Zach Andregg and Phoebe Grabill posted two wins apiece.

KSA Boys Tryouts: Kansas Soccer Academy will hold boys tryouts Saturday at Jayhawk Soccer Complex, at 10 a.m. for U-14 through U-16 and 1:30 p.m. for U-17 and U-18. Additional tryouts will be Monday at Holcom Park. For information, call Lane Davis at 864-7926.

Mailand Honored: Brandon Mailand earned two Central Junior High postseason football awards and shared another. Mailiand earned the first annual John Saunders Ironman Award, was named the best defensive player and shared the Olin Award with Bo Hartford. Malcom Sims was team MVP, Mike Westheffer most improved and Marcus Holman best offensive player. Eighth graders Derek Clark and Chris Nieto were tapped for the Mustang Circle.
