Perry Services for James Stansell Sr., 69, Lecompton, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Perry Christian Church. Cremation will follow.
Mr. Stansell died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 6, 1935, in Huntsville, Ark., the son of George Wesley and Rhoda Victoria Bowman Asbury. He received his general equivalency diploma in Beeville, Texas.
Mr. Stansell served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. He worked for DuPont Co. in Tecumseh in maintenance and as maintenance supervisor for 35 years. He also drove a van for the Perry-Lecompton school district for about five years. He was a member of Perry Christian Church and Perry American Legion Post 142.
He married Georgia Mac Huble on March 24, 1956, in Beeville. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, James, Lecompton, and Wayne, Meriden; a daughter, Brenda Bohannan, Lecompton; a brother, Frank, Valley Falls; seven sisters, Alpha Cohoon and Kay Emmerick, both of Lawrence, Jean Langworthy, Silver Lake, Eva Lee Whitecotton, Yampa, Colo., Irma Sweet, Waterville, and Margaret Shuler and Rita Navinshy, both of Nortonville; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
