Paul H. Whitworth

Graveside services for Paul H. Whitworth, 81, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14.

Mr. Whitworth died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 28, 1923, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the son of Benjamin and Isabel Franklin Whitworth. He moved to Lawrence in 1992.

Mr. Whitworth served in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned an American Theater ribbon, three Bronze Service Stars and a Bronze Star medal. He was supervisor of buildings and grounds for the Chanute school district for 25 years.

He was a member of American Legion, Elks Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Chanute.

He married Helen E. Marple on Feb. 14, 1983, in Chanute. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Latisha George, Chanute.

Two sons died earlier.
