Sprinkles expected in afternoon

You can put away the scarves and gloves. But you’ll probably need the umbrella — warmer, but wetter weather is in store for Lawrence this week.

“We did wet the pavement this morning and we have another chance this afternoon,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “It looks overcast and gray out there.”

Lawrence was getting a few sprinkles this morning, with temperatures starting out in the upper 40s under heavy cloud cover.

Today’s high temperature is expected to be 55 this afternoon, with southwest winds 5-10 mph, Schack said.

Tonight’s low will drop to 45, she said

“The clouds stick around overnight and help keep our temperatures up,” Schack said. “Then tomorrow we take it up to 60 degrees.”

Schack said overcast skies will continue through the week. Wednesday’s morning low temperature will be 47, with the high reaching 60.

There’s also another chance for showers Wednesday night through Friday morning, she said.
