Helen M. Mangold

? Services for Helen L. Mangold, 84, Meriden, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meriden United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Meriden Cemetery.

Mrs. Mangold died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at Deer Park South Adult Care Home in Meriden.

She was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Bunker Hill, the daughter of Samuel R. and Emma C. Dunkel Anspaugh. She graduated from Meriden High School in 1937.

Mrs. Mangold was the owner and operator of Mangold Hardware Store in Meriden since 1963. She also owned Mangold Insurance Agency in Meriden from 1971 to 1998.

She was a member of the Meriden United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women since 1940. She was a 58-year member and Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star, Meriden Chapter No. 399, and the Trinity White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 7 in Topeka.

Mrs. Mangold served as president of the Meriden Cemetery Board of Directors for many years. She also served as a longtime cook for the Meriden Kiwanis Club.

She married Harry W. Mangold on July 10, 1940, in Rock Creek. He died April 30, 1971.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Eileen Welborn, Meriden; a sister, Wanda Hook, Topeka; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the church, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
