  • KU leads the all-time series, 31-3, which includes victories in the last five meetings. The two teams last met on Nov. 12, 2002, in an exhibition won by KU, 101-66. KU has won three regular-season games against Washburn in the past 11 years — 99-56, on Nov. 25, 2000; 90-65 on Dec. 30, 1996, and 82-68 on Dec. 6, 1993.
  • KU has won 21 straight home exhibition games.
  • KU is 39-7 all-time in exhibition action, including a 7-0 mark under coach Bill Self. KU is 35-4 in exhibition action in Allen Fieldhouse, including a 3-0 mark under Self.
  • Washburn lost three starters, including All-MIAA forward Jeremy Cunningham, off last year’s 27-5 squad that won its second straight MIAA title and reached the second round of the NCAA Division Two tournament.
  • Starting guards Jerad Head and Karlton Mims return, along with reserve forwards Carl Jenkins and Steve Bonner and guard Randy Brown.
  • On Monday, Washburn was within four points with three minutes to play before falling at Purdue, 81-72. Robbins scored 25 points off 10-of-18 shooting with seven boards. Mims and Head each scored 10 points.
  • Washburn is No. 5 in the Division Two preseason national rankings.
  • Bonner, who suffered knee injuries in junior college and at Washburn, was granted an extra semester of eligibility by the NCAA. He will sit out the first semester and play the MIAA conference season.
  • Washburn will receive $20,000 guarantee money for playing KU.
