Wildlife and Parks is tagging crappie again this fall at Clinton, Hillsdale, Melvern and Perry reservoirs. The fish are tagged with yellow reward tags worth $5, $20 or $100.

Anglers qualify for a reward when the tag is returned with a completed report card that provides information about when and where they caught the fish and how many other crappie they caught and harvested.

The rewards can be claimed by filling out the card and sending it to Wildlife and Parks, Emporia Office, Box 1525, Emporia, 66801.

Cards are available at state park offices at each of these lakes and at agency offices in Lenexa, Topeka, Chanute, and Emporia.

Anglers who still have tags from earlier catches are encouraged to send them to the Emporia address. Returning the tags will help department biologists manage the crappie populations in Kansas lakes.

"If the date of capture cannot be remembered, an approximate date will work," state biologist Tom Mosher sad. "The important thing is to record the catch of the tagged fish."
