Gregory Galloway has been promoted to the rank of master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. The sergeant, a medical material craftsman with 18 years of military service, is assigned to the 74th Medical Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

Galloway is a 1981 graduate of Lawrence High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Galloway, Lawrence.

Michael L. Slusser was promoted to the rank of major in the U.S. Army on Oct. 1. Slusser is a 1993 graduate of Kansas University, where he was commissioned Distinguished Military Graduate into the U.S. Army. He is a graduate of the Field Artillery Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Staff School, Basic Airborne School, Advance Airborne Jumpmaster School, Air Movement Operations School and the Joint Firepower Control Course.

His awards include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Six Army Commendation Medals, Eight Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, Two National Defense Service Medals, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Development Ribbon (Second Award), Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (Second Award,) Master Parachutist Badge, and German Parachutist Badge.

Slusser is the son of Louis and Donna Slusser, Baldwin.
