Bush the uniter

To the editor:

The lead editorial in the Nov. 6 issue of the Journal-World called for a united America. Where was the call for unity from President Bush? After the 2000 election, Mr. Bush said, “I am a uniter, not a divider,” yet his actions during the next four years were totally opposite this statement. He now says that he wants to reach out to the 55 million who voted for John Kerry. Why should we believe him when all of his actions have shown otherwise?

This country will not become united unless Mr. Bush shows that he cares about nearly half the population. Ellen Goodman’s column from the same issue of the Journal-World was much more to the point.
