LIBERAL — Services for Gertrude Elizabeth Brandes, 87, Overbrook, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Liberal. Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery.
Mrs. Brandes died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Laverna, Okla., the daughter of Bernhardt and Bertha Louise Kunkel Huebner. She lived in Garden City before moving to Liberal in 1963. She moved to Overbrook three years ago.
Mrs. Brandes worked at Ideal Food Stores in Liberal as a deli manager for many years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
She married Coy Brandes on July 6, 1942, in Raton, N.M. He died Jan. 7, 1984.
Survivors include a son, Allen Brandes, Lawrence; a daughter, Gwen Hillis, Wichita; a stepson, Warren Brandes, Wichita; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The family suggests memorials to the church or American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal 67901.
