St. Joseph, Mo. Mass of Christian burial for Francis "Frank" J. Bashinski, 89, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mr. Bashinski died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at his home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1915, in St. Joseph, the son of Frank J. and Anna Slibowski Bashinski.
Mr. Bashinski served in the U.S. Army during World War II, as a member of the 14th Armored Division Headquarters Battery. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 36 years and retired in 1972. He was honored for more than 50 years of service by St. Joseph Postal Credit Union. He was a member of National Association of Retired Federal employees. He also was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for most of his life and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church upon moving to Lawrence. He was a member of American Legion Post 359 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Margaret E. Muir. She died May 24, 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan M. Bashinski, Lawrence; and a grandson.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive them after a rosary is said at 6:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to either church.
