Virgil D. Dahl

? Services for Virgil D. Dahl, 83, Leavenworth, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Dahl died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004, at his home.

He was born Sept. 30, 1921, in Dayton, Iowa, the son of John E. and Grace J. Long Dahl.

Mr. Dahl served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He started his career in printing at age 16 at the Dayton Review. He retired in 1978 from the Army Field Printing Plant at Fort Leavenworth, where he worked for more than 35 years as a foreman and supervisor of the letterpress room. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and also attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. He also was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and American Legion.

He married Rita A. Hund on Oct. 1, 1949, in Leavenworth. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Joan E. Brown, Lawrence, and Debra L. Jargosch, Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Irene E. Richardson, Lehigh, Iowa; a brother, Gerald E., Dayton, Iowa; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society, First Methodist Church or St. Joseph Catholic Church, sent in care of the funeral home, 500 Oak St. Leavenworth 66048.
