Mild temperatures coming to end

Patchy clouds will paint the Lawrence sky today, treating the area with another day of mild temperatures. But a cold front will bring rain Wednesday and a hard freeze by Friday, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“We are going to end our nice stretch of warm weather today,” Schack said. The temperature will climb to a high of 64 this afternoon, which is above the average of 57 for this time of year.

“We will be in and out of the clouds today,” Schack said. “That will keep our temperatures above average.”

The clouds will thicken up overnight as a cold front rolls in, with the low dropping to 45 by early Wednesday morning.

“Tomorrow showers are possible in the afternoon and we have a better chance for showers as we go into tomorrow evening,” Schack said. Wednesday’s high will be 61.

“We bring in the cold weather for Thursday,” she said. Thursday’s morning low will be 34 and the high will be 42.

Then it gets really cold. The first hard freeze is expected Friday morning, with the low dropping to 22, Schack said. Friday’s high will climb to only 47, under sunny skies.
