Raptors improve to 3-0

? No one expected the Raptors to be 3-0. Not Vince Carter, and not their fans.

Carter had 25 points, including a go-ahead three-pointer with 4.8 seconds left, helping Toronto get off to its best start in franchise history with a 101-97 victory Sunday over Portland.

But not all is well in Toronto.

The attendance of 13,863 was the smallest home crowd in the Raptors’ 10-year history. Toronto went 33-49 last season, missing the playoffs for the second straight year, and Carter, a five-time All-Star, asked for a trade this summer.

Zach Randolph had 33 points and 15 rebounds for the Trail Blazers. Randolph started the game despite missing the team flight Saturday to Toronto.

Sonics 113, Spurs 94

Seattle — Rashard Lewis scored 27 points, and Ray Allen added 24, leading Seattle to its second straight home win.

The SuperSonics lost their season opener by 30 points to the Clippers last week in Los Angeles.

Danny Fortson had 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Sonics, who snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Spurs. It was Seattle’s first win over San Antonio since March 29, 2002.

Lakers 106, Hawks 90

Los Angeles — Kobe Bryant scored 24 points, Caron Butler added 22, and the Lakers handed Atlanta its third straight lopsided loss.

Bryant shot 6-of-12 from the floor and 11-of-12 from the foul line. He also had six assists and five rebounds.

Butler, who shot 10-of-14, had a total of 26 points in his first three games for the Lakers. Butler came to Los Angeles from Miami with Lamar Odom and Brian Grant in the offseason trade that sent Shaquille O’Neal to the Heat.

Chris Mihm had 19 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots for the Lakers (2-2), who snapped a two-game losing streak. Tierre Brown had 13 points and five assists; Odom added 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Jumaine Jones also scored 11.
