Nellie I. Griffeth

Mrs. Griffeth died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

She was born Dec. 9, 1904, in McLouth, the daughter of Ace and Grace Snow Laster. She was a lifelong Douglas County resident and was raised in the Pleasant Grove community.

Mrs. Griffeth was a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell for 41 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence.

She married Raymond William Griffeth in 1925. He died Nov. 5, 1984.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty J. Allen, Lawrence; a brother, Robert Laster, Topeka; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Assn. or Hospice Care in Douglas County, sent in care of the funeral home.
