James Ward Mayer

? Services for James Ward Mayer, 72, Olathe, will be at 5 p.m. Friday at McGilley & Hoge Chapel in Overland Park.

Mr. Mayer died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at Olathe Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Marysville, the son of Loyal B. and Sally E. Barnes Mayer. He grew up in Marysville and later moved to the Kansas City area.

Mr. Mayer worked for Union Pacific Railroad. He also worked for 42 years in real estate, with Wayne Reagan Realtors, Jim Mayer Realtors, Earnshaw Estates and Weigan Realtors in Wichita. He was executive vice president of Kansas Association of Realtors in Topeka for 17 years. He worked at Home Depot for six years after he retired.

His wife of 36 years, Barb Denker, survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Kurt Halupnick, Blue Springs, Mo., Todd Halupnick, Merriam, and Jamie Mayer, Manhattan; two daughters, Kimberly Degn, Blue Springs, Mo., and Barbara Darby, Grandview, Mo.; a brother, Loyal B. Mayer Jr., Fort Worth, Texas; three sisters, Betty Dultmeier, Topeka, Twila Summerville, St. Louis, Mo., and Judy Qualkenbush, Blue Springs, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. until service time Friday at the chapel.
