Lawrence’s largest amateur sports event will return in 2005.

The American Fastpitch Assn. Class B National Tournament will be conducted July 18-24 at Clinton Lake Softball and the Youth Sports Inc. complex, city officials announced Monday.

This year’s tourney attracted 124 teams and brought an estimated 4,000 visitors and total direct spending of $1.763 million to Lawrence, according to the city’s convention and visitors bureau.
