Poetry

‘River Whispers’

An abandoned canoe peacefully resides
Along the shore of a shadowed pool.
Its skeleton serves as a poignant reminder
Of bygone times,
Of long-forgotten civilizations ceased.
Sunrays sift from the vaulted welkin
Down through the forest depths,
As golden-gilded the illuminated birches become,
Towering omnisciently over their kingdom.
Silence envelopes the umbra.
Only the deer, once-hunted,
Dare disturb the melancholy stillness
And nostalgic secrets of the wood.
