Next memorial

To the editor:

To prevent having to wait another 59 years for the next war memorial to open (“Long-awaited WW II Memorial opens,” Journal-World, April 30), we should begin planning now. Since “memorial” sounds a bit grave, we could call it the Petroleum Park. It would be a drive-thru affair, where visitors (Americans only) won’t have to leave the comfort of their SUVs. Yes, there will be two towers on the horizon, but these will not be connected to the park.

While watching their favorite reality shows on megaplex screens, visitors will follow a complex maze to find hidden prizes. Each time visitors get disoriented, they would be required to vigorously wave an American flag and pay for further directions. The centerpiece of the exhibit will be a huge field of quicksand, resting upon a lake of oil, where those running short of fuel could eternally park their cars.
