Louie Lee Kindred

? Services for Louie Lee Kindred, 79, Eudora, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eudora United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Eudora Cemetery.

Mr. Kindred died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Eudora, the son of Leslie L. and Mattie A. (Catlin) Kindred.

He attended public schools in Eudora and graduated from Eudora High School.

Mr. Kindred was a farmer and a stockman and retired in 1990. He was part owner of the Lawrence Livestock sale barn for many years.

He was a member of the church, International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge in Eudora, Kansas Dairy Assn., was past president of Rural Water Dist. No. 4 and served many years on the Douglas County Fair Board.

In 1941 Mr. Kindred married Lois Jean “Jeannie” Stanley. She died April 11, 1983. In 1985 he married Elva Ruth (Abel) O’Berg. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Judy J. Young, Gardner; two sisters, Eva Belle Gerstenberger, Eudora, and Alice Riordan, Wichita; two stepsons, Nevin O’Berg, Fort Collins, Colo., and James O’Berg, Eudora; a stepdaughter, Laura Ward, St. Peters, Mo.; four grandchildren; a great-great grandson; five stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

A son, Lyle Lee Kindred; a grandson and a granddaughter died earlier.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Eudora Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society or the church building fund, which can be sent in care of the mortuary.
