Marine Corps Pvt. Daniel Nicholson recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C.

The training is designed to challenge new recruits both mentally and physically. Nicholson, a 2003 Lawrence High School graduate, is the son of Betsy Drennon, Linwood, and Daniel Nicholson, Lawrence.

  • Coast Guard Reserve Lt. Cmdr. David L. Teska completed the Reserve Officer National Security Decision Making Course at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, R.I.

During the two-week course, Teska participated as a member of graduate-level seminars devoted to studying national security decision-making from the perspective of a Joint Task Force commander.

The course better prepares and trains senior officers of reserve components to advise senior officers to make sound decisions at the major command level.

Teska is an assistant planning officer assigned to the 8th Coast Guard District in New Orleans.

His wife, Kristy, is the daughter of Joe and Doris Eagleman, Lawrence.

Teska received a bachelor’s degree in 1986 from Texas Technical University, Lubbock, Texas, and a master’s degree in 1997 from Kansas University.
