Top-seeded Tennessee advances

Vols rout Colgate, 77-54; DePaul up next in Midwest Regional

? Ashley Robinson had 13 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in 22 minutes, helping top-seeded Tennessee begin its quest for a seventh national title with a 77-54 victory over Colgate in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

Robinson bounced back from a disappointing effort in the SEC tournament semifinals against Georgia two weeks ago, when she scored only two points in a 68-66 overtime loss.

Tyesha Fluker and Sidney Spencer each added 12 points and Shanna Zolman 11 for the Vols (27-3), who will face ninth-seeded DePaul in the second round of the Midwest Regional.

Milaina Lagzdins led the Raiders (21-10) with 13 points.

DePaul 83, George Washington 46

Tallahassee, Fla. — Charlene Smith scored 24 points, and Khara Smith and Jenni Dant added 16 each for DePaul (23-6). Ugo Oha scored 15 points for George Washington (22-8).

Vanderbilt 76, Lipscomb 45

Chattanooga, Tenn. — Jenni Benningfield had 21 points and 12 rebounds to help Vanderbilt beat Lipscomb. The second-seeded Commodores (25-7) play 10th-seeded Chattanooga in the second round Monday.

Chattanooga 74, Rutgers 69

Chattanooga, Tenn. — Tiffani Roberson scored 15 points, and Katie Galloway had 14, including two key three-pointers, to lead Chattanooga past Rutgers. The Mocs (29-2) won their first NCAA Tournament game and extended the nation’s longest current winning streak to 27 games on their home court.

Oklahoma 58, Marist 45

Tempe, Ariz. — Freshman Leah Rush had a season-high 23 points, leading third-seeded Oklahoma. Maria Villarroel added 12 points, 11 rebounds and four steals for the Sooners (24-8), who lost their season finale to Texas but also beat the Longhorns to win the Big 12 Conference tournament title. Oklahoma advanced to play the Missouri-Stanford winner. Stephanie Del Preore had 12 points for the Red Foxes (20-11).

Florida 68, New Mexico 56

Albuquerque, N.M. — Vanessa Hayden scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half for fifth-seeded Florida. Lindsey Arndt led New Mexico (23-8) with 11 points.

Boston College 58,

Eastern Michigan 56

Columbus, Ohio — Kathrin Ress made a backdoor layup with 12 seconds left to lead third-seeded Boston College. Ress led Boston College (26-6) with 16 points. Ryan Coleman led Eastern Michigan (22-8) with 15 points.

Ohio State 73, W. Virginia 67

Columbus, Ohio — Jessica Davenport scored 22 points on 10-of-11 shooting for Ohio State (21-9). Kate Bulger, the sister of Rams quarterback Marc Bulger, led West Virginia (21-11) with 18 points.

Texas Tech 60, Maine 50

Missoula, Mont. — Alesha Robertson scored 16 points to lead fourth-seeded Texas Tech. Casey Jackson added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Texas Tech (25-7) and helped hold Maine’s leading scorer, Heather Ernest, to just three points on 1-of-9 shooting. Texas Tech will face the Louisiana Tech-Montana winner in the second round.

West Regional

Georgia 78, Liberty 53

Philadelphia — Cori Chambers scored a career-high 19 points and Jessica Pierce added 17 for Georgia.

TCU 70, Temple 57

Philadelphia — Sandora Irvin had 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Ebony Shaw added 15 points and 10 rebounds for TCU. Coach Jeff Mittie coached the Frogs (25-6) a day after he was reprimanded for his arrest for suspicion of drunken driving.

East Regional

Houston 62,

Wisconsin-Green Bay 47

Santa Barbara, Calif. — Chandi Jones scored 28 points to lead third-seeded Houston to its first victory in the NCAAs. Houston (28-3) has won 22 of its last 23 games, including a school-record 13 in a row.
