Bingham Camp: Dave Bingham Baseball Academy will conduct a camp for players ages 8-14 next week at Sport 2 Sport. Daily sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For information, call Shane Wedd at 832-2202.

  • LJWC Report: Zechariah Warren and Skylar Compass of Lawrence Junior Wrestling Club earned third places last weekend at the Holton sub-district tournament and advanced to this weekend’s district meet in Ottawa.

  • Manning Camp: Former Kansas University All-American Danny Manning will conduct his annual basketball camp July 26-30 at Sport 2 Sports. The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 2 through 8. For information, call Angie McClure at 841-7550.

  • LGA Placings: Lawrence Gymnastics Academy’s Molly Ryan and Lexi Brady earned silver and bronze medals respectively in the all-around at the LGA March Madness Level 4 meet. Other LGA competitors were Allyson Clancy, Jessie Abernathy, Abigail Schmidtberger, Haley Johnson, Michayla Starkey and Jordan Lutz.

  • Mercer Silver: Emma Mercer of Lawrence won the silver medal at the USA Wrestling Kansas Girls Championships Sunday in Derby. Mercer competed in the U-14 category in the 110-120 pound weight group. She also finished in the top 10 in the cadet division of the USA Wrestling Nationals in St. Joseph, Minn.
  • Baseball Clinic: Five Tool Baseball School will conduct a clinic at 1 p.m. March 27 at Free State High. For information, call Mike Hill at 766-4916.

  • Mat Gold Medals: Deidre Housworth and Shelby Bowman of Prairie Fire Wrestling Club won gold medals at the USA Wrestling Nationals in St. Joseph, Minn. Seconds went to Misty Hayes and Jessica Bowman while Dottie Housworth and Bailey Cole earned bronze medals. Fourths were posted by Katrina Hayes and Sara Hilliard. Other top-10 finishers were Kelsey Townsend, Kellie Hodges, Kayla Townsend and Desiree Housworth. Hodges was also placed fourth in the Kansas Girls Championships.
  • Fourth-Grade Champs: Lawrence Jayhawks won the fourth-grade championship of Sunday’s MAYB tournament at Sport 2 Sport. Team members are Jeffrey Belaire, Tyler Brenn, Anthony Buffalomeat, Brett Frantz, Derby Miller, Jamie Montes de Oca, K.J. Pritchard, Tyler Self and Jake Vinoverski. Coaches are Ray Buffalomeat, Stan Frantz and Kevin Pritchard.

  • LGA Third: Lawrence Gymnastics Academy’s Level 3 team finished third at the Teddy Bear Invitational in Overland Park. Team members are Kaitlyn Applegate, Megan Eagle, Eadington Graham, Cate Gwin, Claire Hunt, Cambry Lynch, Kylie Seaman, Sheridan Klindt, Kirstyn Flothschutz, Carrie Howland, Kaylee Hurt, Racheal Ramirez, Laurel Sewing, Krystal Thompson and Natalie Zaitz.
  • Aquahawks Shine: Tyler Schmidt and Ashley Robinson of the Lawrence Aquahawks earned gold medals at the Missouri Valley Div. I swim championships last weekend in Wichita. Schmidt also captured a second place. Heather Clark won two silver medals and Emma Reaney one. Reaney also earned two bronze medals. Other third places went to Cameron Case, Caitlin Gallagher, Anthony Portela, Jill Courtney and Clark.

  • Robinson Winner: Ashley Robinson was the Lawrence Aquahawks’ lone gold medal winner at the USA Sectional swim championships in Oklahoma City. Robinson also earned a second place and a third place. Teammate Alex Brunfeldt picked up a silver medal and a pair of bronzes.

  • McCandless Ace: Jason McCandless used a pitching wedge to record a hole-in-one on the 95-yard No. 8 hole at the Orchards Golf Course. Ryan Waggoner was the witness.

  • City Rec Update: March 24 deadline for girls volleyball clinic. April 14 deadline for Holcom League baseball registration. Houk-Ice League draft April 3-4. For information, call 832-7940.

  • LGA Placers: Six Lawrence Gymnastics Academy competitors placed in individual events in the state championships in Gardner. They were Rosie Schaumburg, Annie Soderberg, Jacqueline Zaitz, Abbey Bays, Mariah Anstaett and Rachel Rasmussen. Caitlin Haig also competed.
