Jayhawks crack poll

Kansas University’s men’s team has been recognized by Golfweek Magazine with a No. 25 ranking in the latest Golfweek Sagarin rankings. It marks the highest ranking in the past five years for KU. The Jayhawks have recorded three top-10 team finishes in their first three tournaments. Kansas next will be in action March 22-23, when it travels to Santa Cruz, Calif., to compete in the Western Intercollegiate at the Pasatiempo Golf Course.

KU women finish fifth

Coto De Caza, Calif. — Kansas University’s women’s golf team finished fifth in a 13-team field Tuesday at the UC-Irvine Anteater Invitational. San Francisco won the tournament with a three-round score of 883. KU finished at 926. Freshman Amanda Costner led the Jayhawks in a tie for 11th place after shooting 227. Freshman Jill Womble shot a three-round 229 and placed in a tie for 16th. The Jayhawks return to tournament action March 21-23 in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas.
