City Pin Champs: Kathy Wagner shot a 674 and won the singles championship of the Lawrence Women’s Bowling Assn. tournament. Wagner also teamed with Cheryl Keslar to capture the doubles title. Keslar was the all-events champ. Members of the winning team were Jodi Lybarger, Susann Lown, Stacy Sexton, Pam Dunn and Mary Sexton.

  • LGA Team Champ: Jennifer Hornbaker finished second in the all-around to lead Lawrence Gymnastics Academy to the Level 10 team championship at a meet in Olathe.

  • LJWC Regional Placings: Kelsey Townsend, Misty Hayes, Brittany Brown and Amanda Morris of Lawrence Junior Wrestling Club won championships at the Midwest Regional at Lawrence High. Second places went to Brianna Hayes, Katrina Hayes, Bailey Cole, Shelby Bowman, Desiree Housworth and Nikki Wagner. Thirds were posted by Jessica Bowman, Kayla Townsend, Deidre Housworth and Cortney Wagner. Dottie Housworth earned a fourth place.

  • LTC Coaches Session: Lawrence Track Club will begin its season with an orientation for coaches and potential coaches at 1 p.m. Saturday in Room 118 at Lawrence High. Practices will start April 15. For information, call Bill Myers 843-7684.

  • Soccer Academy: Kansas University coach Mark Francis and Free State High coach Jason Pendleton have formed the Kansas Soccer Academy to train local players. The season will begin April 5. For information, call 830-0906.

  • Flames Seventh Champs: Lawrence Flames won the seventh-grade division of a basketball tournament last weekend at Sport 2 Sport. Team members are Bailey Scott and Haley Epperson of Eudora; Tracey Weege of Baldwin; and Taylor Manning, Taylor Bird, Tania Hill, Cassie Potter and Jasmyn Turner, all of Lawrence. Troy Bird is the coach.
  • LHS Volleyball: Lawrence High volleyball coach Jo Huntsinger will conduct three camps — junior high in the morning, grade school in the afternoon and high school at night — June 7-11. For information, call 393-2191.

  • Jayhawks Red Second: Lawrence Jayhawks Red finished second in a sixth grade basketball tournament last weekend at Sport 2 Sport. Team members are Nathaniel Mehl, Steven Melton, Sam Hird, Matt Montes De Oca, Nick Jaimez, Jay Baker and Tanner Burns of Lawrence, and Connor Scott of Eudora. Ray Mehl is the coach.

  • Spangler Honored: Ron Spangler of Lawrence has been named Kansas Youth Soccer Assn. volunteer of the year. Spangler has served many years on the Kansas Youth Soccer board of directors as a district commissioner. Spangler also is involved with Lawrence’s Kaw Valley Soccer Assn.
