Martha Ann Nelson Moody

? Graveside services for Martha Ann Nelson Moody, 72, Chanute, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Swede Cemetery west of Chanute.

Mrs. Moody died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

She was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Chanute, the daughter of Oscar Daniel “O.D.” and Eunice (Gray) Nelson. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1949. She attended Neosho County Community College from 1949 to 1950 and graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in Tulsa, Okla., in 1953.

Mrs. Moody was a homemaker and registered nurse. She worked for 41 years as a nurse in Oklahoma, California and Kansas until she retired in January 1994 from Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center as operating room surgical supervisor. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chanute and Operating Room Nurses Assn.

She married Homer F. Moody on Sept. 17, 1952, in Chanute. He died Feb. 24, 1994.

Survivors include two sons, James Patrick Moody, Plain, Wis., and Mark Daniel Moody, Farlington; two daughters, Lisa Ann Moody Thompson, Lawrence, and Janet Marie Moody Sprague, Girard; two brothers, F.R. Nelson, Riverton, and A.F. Nelson, Manhattan; two sisters, Ruth M. Nelson Elliott and Marion E. Nelson Geeding, both of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Mortuary in Chanute.
