Marietta Sue ‘Susie’ Timmons

? Graveside services for Marietta Sue “Susie” Timmons, 85, Pittsburg, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mineral Springs Cemetery in Cassville.

Mrs. Timmons died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community in Lawrence, Kan. She had lived in Pittsburg for more than 40 years

She was born Dec. 9, 1918, in rural Cassville near Table Rock Lake, the daughter of George and Minerva (Brock) England. She attended Gaddis School and graduated from Cassville High School in 1938. She received a bachelor’s degree in 1950 from Southwest Missouri State University.

Mrs. Timmons taught at elementary schools in Barry County and Des Moines, Iowa. She was an artist and writer. She published two small volumes of poetry and wrote a column for Autumn Lifestyles Newspaper. She attended South Broadway Baptist Church in Pittsburg.

She married Jim Timmons in 1949. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, James Kyle Timmons, Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Kimberly Timmons Anderson, Lawrence; five brothers, Jack England, Joe England and Charles England, all of Cassville, Edward England, Carthage, and Amos England, California; a sister, Lily Phillips, California; and three grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Cassville.
