Linwood resident wins Powerball prize

Topeka — Nicholas Peuker, Linwood, matched four numbers and the Powerball in the March 3 drawing to win $5,000.

Peuker works in the mining industry at Shawnee Rock in Olathe. He bought the winning ticket at Roche Shell, 5501 Hedge Lane Terrace in Shawnee.

Professor tapped for space consortium

A Kansas University professor has been named associate director of the Kansas Space Grant Consortium.

Rick Hale, assistant professor of aerospace engineering, will serve in the newly created position under David Downing, the consortium’s director and professor of aerospace engineering.

The consortium, funded by NASA, aims to enhance math, science and technology education for Kansans.
