James propels Cleveland past Milwaukee, 106-97

? The Cleveland Cavaliers have completed their transformation from worst team in the league to playoff contender.

The Cavaliers outshot and outhustled the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night, putting them in a three-way tie with Boston and Miami for the seventh playoff spot in the East.

LeBron James had 24 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 29 points in the 106-97 win.

It came one night after a close victory at New Orleans and gives the Cavaliers their third sweep of back-to-back games this season.

The success has put the Cavaliers’ confidence level at an all-time high.

“It shows how much we’ve grown to be able to play such an emotional game last night … and come back here and play another really good team and beat them, too,” Carlos Boozer said.

Boozer had 22 points and 13 rebounds and Jeff McInnis had a season-high 12 assists for the Cavaliers, who won their third straight.

“It’s just all about us coming together,” James said. “We’re coming together. We’re putting four quarters together in one game.”

The Bucks were led by Michael Redd with 18 points and Brian Skinner with 15.

Pistons 97, Nuggets 66

Denver — Rasheed Wallace had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Corliss Williamson added 14 points, leading Detroit over Denver. Detroit played its second straight game without leading scorer Richard Hamilton because of a broken nose, but it didn’t matter. The Pistons had 22 offensive rebounds.

Spurs 107, Suns 86

Phoenix — Rasho Nesterovic scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Malik Rose had 19 points and Tony Parker scored 17, leading San Antonio over Phoenix. Amare Stoudemire topped the Suns with 23 points, the 11th straight game in which he has been the team’s leading scorer.

Heat 102, Kings 96

Miami — Lamar Odom earned the first triple-double by a Miami player in nine years with 30 points, 19 rebounds and 11 assists to help the Heat beat Sacramento.

Blazers 91, Jazz 70

Portland, Ore. — Zach Randolph scored 23 points and Portland beat Utah in a game marred by a fourth-quarter scuffle. The conflict broke out with about five minutes left when Shareef Abdur-Rahim stole the ball from Raja Bell and charged down the court. Bell, in pursuit, appeared to try to pull Abdur-Rahim to the ground, then the Blazers’ Ruben Patterson jumped into the fray and knocked Bell to the ground.

Sixers 97, Bulls 88

Philadelphia — Kenny Thomas had a season-high 27 points and 11 rebounds, leading Philadelphia past Chicago. Allen Iverson had 20 points and 11 assists, and reserve Zendon Hamilton added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Sixers.

Grizzlies 98, Clippers 92

Los Angeles — James Posey had 15 points and reserve Charles Outlaw added 13 points and 11 rebounds to help Memphis beat Los Angeles for its fourth straight victory.
