Speaker to examine kamikaze pilots of WWII

A professor of anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will speak this month on why Japanese university students became kamikaze pilots during World War II.

Emiko Ohnuki-Tierney will speak at 7:30 p.m. March 11 at the Dole Institute of Politics on Kansas University’s west campus. Her speech is the Grant Goodman Distinguished Lecture in Japanese Studies, sponsored by the Center for East Asian Studies at KU. It is free and open to the public.

Conference to educate anesthesiology workers

Professionals working in the field of anesthesiology will gather April 2-4 for a conference in Kansas City, Mo.

The 54th annual conference, sponsored by the Kansas University Medical Center, will be at the Fairmont Hotel, 401 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Mo.

Topics will include patient evaluation, diagnostic tests, anesthetic agents and technical procedures.
