Spring turkey permit sales popular online

Starting this spring, Kansas spring turkey hunters could buy their permits online for the first time. More than 1,300 hunters made online purchases through this popular new program. About one-fourth of the online turkey permit sales were to Kansans, with the neighboring states making up most of the rest.

However, hunters in 43 states and one Canadian province were among the buyers.

“Anyone purchasing a spring turkey permit through the Internet had the opportunity to enter a Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks [KDWP] ball cap drawing,” says LeAnn Schmitt, special assistant to KDWP Secretary Mike Hayden. “The department congratulates the winners and thanks them for buying their permits online. Making more licenses and permits available online is part of the department’s continuing work to better serve the public.”

Web site contest offers lifetime licenses

To encourage more people to access their Web site for information and purchase permits and licenses online, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is having a drawing to win a lifetime hunting or fishing license.

Beginning Thursday and running through Nov. 1, hunters and anglers may enter to win at www.kdwp.state.ks.us. To enter, just click the “Win a Lifetime License” icon, submit a valid e-mail address and answer one brief survey question.

The e-mail addresses never will be released to a third party. Any Kansas resident can enter to win either a lifetime hunting or fishing license, but entries can only be made through the KDWP Web site.
