George E. Harriman

Services for George E. Harriman, 78, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie.

Mr. Harriman died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.

He was born March 31, 1926, in Dearing, the son of George E. and Frances W. Elliott Harriman. He graduated from Field McKinley High School in Coffeyville in 1944.

Mr. Harriman was a U.S Army veteran of World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater. He retired in 1988 as a pipefitter. He was a member of Alford-Clarke Post 852 of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 441, both in Lawrence.

He married Glendean Rowbottom on April 28, 1947, in Independence. She died March 3, 1996.

Survivors include a son, George E. III, Edwardsville; two daughters, Leah Rurode, Baldwin, and Susan Quisenberry, Tonganoxie; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
