The Lawrence Mentors Duplicate Bridge Club met June 16. Four teams participated in a Swiss match. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Winning three rounds, the team of Emily Foster, Al Ballard, Bob Huffman and Helen Huffman finished in first place. The team of Harry Talley, Don Daugherty, John Ledford and Barbara Ballard won two rounds to finish second. Betty Spalsbury, Dan Osman, Kitty Hagen and Lorene Tebo won one match and finished third.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met June 18. Eight and a half tables competed in a stratified game that followed a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Playing North-South, Yvonne Hedges and Betty Collier claimed first place in A and B. Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough finished second in A. Betty Spalsbury and Dan Osman placed first in C.

Competing East-West, Mona Bell and Madelyn Jenks swept first place in A, B and C. Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro finished second in A. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley claimed third in A and second in B and C.

The Lawrence Duplicate Club played a club-level qualifier game for the North American Open Pairs on Monday. The game attracted 11 tables. Virginia Seaver directed the Mitchell movement of a stratified game.

Playing the North-South cards, Jerry Sloan and Bill Schutzel claimed first place in A and B. John Hickey and Patt Radford placed second in A and B. Dave Piro and Donna Johnson finished third in A. Kent McCullough and Larry Bodle were fourth in A and third in B. Virginia Eddy and Phyllis Brownlee took fourth in B and first in C.

Competing East-West, Carol Ball and Lynn Hui swept first place in A, B and C. Bob Huffman and Helen Huffman claimed second in A, B and C. Vern Gregg and Don Bush finished third in A, B and C. Don Brennaman and Dan Osman were fourth in A, B and C.

Overall, Sloan and Schutzel were first in A and B. Hui and Ball were second in A and B and first in C. Hickey and Radford placed third in A and B. Huffman and Huffman were fourth in A and B and second in C. Johnson and Piro were fifth in A. Bodle and McCullough were sixth in A and fifth in B. Brownlee and Eddy tied for sixth in B and third in C with Bush and Gregg.

University Bridge Club announces the winners of its June 19 game. Hosts were Dale and Wanda Kring.

Blue winners were Paul Jordan, first; Ralph Dunn, second, and Harold Riehm, third.

Pink winners were Jean Dunn, first; Carolyn Jordan, second, and Aileen Bocquin, third.
