Vance Lee Wenger

? Memorial services for Vance Lee Wenger, 70, Leawood, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel in Overland Park.

Mr. Wenger died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

He was born May 19, 1934, in Morrill, the son of Phillip S. and Tillie E. Beyers Wenger. He graduated from high school in 1952 in Sabetha. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washburn University in Topeka in 1968.

Mr. Wenger served in the U.S. Army paratroopers from 1953 to 1957. He founded and developed Timber Lake home estates in Lane in 1974. He was a Boy Scoutmaster, member of the Rotary Club and a member of the South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.

He married Margaret Smith on Aug. 16, 1997, in Springfield, Mo. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include four sons, Michael J., Christopher K., Patrick K. and Timothy V., all of Lawrence; four stepchildren, Craig Pratt, Dana Jo Pratt, Gretchen Robinson and Nancy Bernhardt; three brothers, Gerald and Clayton, both of Topeka, and Devere, Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Eloise Bruner, Holton, and Shirley Wenger, Topeka; 11 grandchildren; and eight stepgrandchildren.
